2013 Deer Hunt Application and Information
(Federal Hunts Only)
This is the Last Year for the Priority Point System. Due to Federal laws regarding information that we may collect from the public, 2011 is the LAST year that we will use the priority point system to select hunters. Following this year’s drawing, all information, including hunters’ accumulated point totals, will be removed from our system. The refuge will employ a random lottery selection process to issue permits in 2012.

Priority Deer Drawing System Guidelines
  • A priority drawing system was started in 2001 and will end with the 2011 season.
  • Hunters who apply this year and already have points in our system will have a better chance of being drawn for popular either sex hunts compared to a first-time hunter with zero points.
  • Only two people can apply together as partners.
  • Law enforcement data is tied to the program to delete those applicants who are still serving probation periods.
  • Probation periods assigned to refuge violations will be served consecutively.
  • The hunter is responsible for notifying us of any changes to his/her address, phone number, identification number, etc. so that points can be transferred if necessary.
Hunters are restricted to using only the weapon of the hunt type listed;
* Shotgun (Non-Ambulatory) – hunters are in a wheelchair. Must apply by card only.
